Southeast Mechanical enters Florida by buying Clearwater's Climate Design

What happened. Palladin-backed Southeast Mechanical, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Winston-Salem, acquired Climate Design Home Services of Clearwater in its first expansion outside the Carolinas and Georgia. Climate Design had operated for more than 50 years serving Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Tampa and surrounding areas under president Tom Robinson. SEM president Hugh Elks said the deal extended the platform's footprint into Florida; Robinson said the company would keep serving Tampa Bay under its own name. Terms were not disclosed.
